At times slipped disc pain is insurmountable, unrelenting and very grueling. Slipped disc is a condition that mainly occurs on the lower back leading to development of back and leg pain. This condition is also referred to as pinched nerve, prolapsed, ruptured, herniated disc or bulging disc. The human backbone consists of vertebrae and disks that enable the backbone to move. Fortunately, slipped disc pain can be comfortably relived at home. Individuals are advised to use ice treatment immediately they experience any of the herniated disc symptoms. Ice is vital as it helps to reduce the inflammation surrounding the disc and numb the nerves thereby effectively reducing pain. Contrary to this use of heat worsens the situation. Heat accelerates the flow of blood thereby increasing the inflammation. As a result more pressure is applied on the nerves causing individuals to feel more pain. For fast relief the ice treatment should be repeated after every hour until the pain fully subdues. Tremendous change may begin to be felt after three to four days.
Therapy balls can also be used to relief slipped disc pain. Individuals are supposed to gently bounce up and down in a sited position for a minimum of four minutes every day. This exercise enables the herniated disc to receive the required amount of blood and thus get sufficient nutrients and oxygen. Furthermore, the pumping action enables the disc to heal quickly giving an individual fast pain relief.
